“How Come Your Skin is Whiter Than Mine”
So Sharad Yadav of JDU has apparently gone ahead and upset Smriti Irani.
The JDU chief has made some remark about how majority of Indian women are “Dark Skinned” and how the Indians are obsessed with “White Skin”.
Personally, I don’t think there is anything wrong in what he said.
If that was not the case “Fair and Lovely” wouldn’t have sold millions of their creams which the girls keep rubbing on their faces in a useless quest to make them “Gori Gori”.
We do have a lot of dusky skinned women in India but why should anyone feel that is a derogatory statement?? Dusky or Fair has nothing to do with how beautiful the lady is. And #Indian women would definitely give a run for their money to any Women from any country in the looks department.
And, we ARE obsessed with the Fair skin. Look at our matrimonial ads. Most of the grooms want a “Fair Good Looking Girl”. Ever seen an ad which says “Looking for a Dark Skinned Ugly woman”??
Or take a peek at our movie songs. Its all about “Gora Mukhda” “Gori Gori Gori Gori”, “Gori hain kalaiyaan”. The only “Kaali” mention is for the “Aankhen”. And I can remember only one song which calls the woman “Saavli”
So why was #SmritiIrani so upset? Did she suddenly feel that she was in the minority because she isn’t a Dusky Woman?? We all know how the BJP people feel about minorities.
Well Dusky is IN these days, but then Smriti Irani’s days of being IN are over. We don’t expect our Politicians to look pretty.
In any case, Smriti’s comparison will be with Mamata Banerjee and Mayawati. So she shouldn’t be worrying much, right?
As for all the Politicians wasting their time in the Parliament over this issue ….. this just goes on to show that Men would find any excuse to talk about Women and discuss their height, body, beauty, skin color …. errrrr …. etc. So why should the Parliamentarians be any different.
They have been caught watching Priyanka Gandhi’s pics in a white shirt, they are just opening up a formal debate on this now.
However, the only thing that we get from this is that Sharad Yadav is obsessed with South Indian women because they are dark skinned, beautiful, have good bodies and can dance (yeah he said that too lol).
And that Smriti Irani doesnt like Sharad Yadav’s taste in Women because she doesn’t fit the bill ?? Hmmmmm ??
She is not dark skinned and I don’t even want to talk about the other aspects.
Now, I only hope that the Parliamentarians stop gossiping like a bunch of old men and women sitting under the banyan tree with nothing better to do.
There are a lot of other important issues to be discussed and that’s what should be done in the Parliament.
Hopefully the next debate would not be about whether Kanjiwaram is a better saree than a Banarasi.
Disclaimer: Just in case someone plans to accuse me of being sexist and racist because of this post, let me clarify that I Love Women and I Love Dusky Women (I also love voluptuous women instead of thin stick like ones). If that makes me a Sexist and a Racist, so be it.
