Just heard Kanhaiya Kumar speaking Live in JNU for a full 40 minutes.
I usually have a very short attention span when it comes to Student speeches, but this one had me listening to the end.
Now, we know why Kanhaiya became the President of JNUSU. The Young man can captivate his audience for sure !!
The audience was absolutely loving him.
And he roared and he ripped through all his opponents.
Ofcourse, most of his speech was taking potshots at his opponents, but thats what they do even in the Parliaments these days…. and this was just a student speech.
But even if you rate his speech with Smriti Irani’s latest dramatic one or Rahul Gandhi’s more restrained one in the Lok Sabha, he was much better than both of them.
Ofcourse, I will not even compare his speech with Modi’s speech today in the Parliament. You cant rate rants, rhetoric and whining in place of solutions and answers as a speech.
But, Kanhaiya was humorous, straight forward and you got to hear sarcasm at its best.
He made some pertinent points in his speech about Freedom and which freedoms he was asking for and to me, it all made sense.
After hearing his speech I can say one thing for sure.
A Hero was born today.
Not just a Hero for the JNU but a Hero who might go out and become one of National scale, if he is not dissolved into the darkness by keeping the media away from him or simply making him disappear.
And the onus of making him a Hero lies firmly on the shoulders of the Modi Government.
Had they not given JNU so much fanfare…
Had they handled the JNU situation with a lot more delicacy….
Had they not used their Media stooges to bring this guy to the limelight….
Kanhaiya Kumar would have remained a College hero like a thousand other college heroes who have a few years of limited fame with limited audience and after those few years he would have probably ended up a foot worker in one of the political parties.
By mishandling this situation they have ensured the the Students bring out their fight on the streets with Kanhaiya as the Face of this fight.
Now, I am not sure where Kanhaiya will be after 10 or 20 years. Predicting Destiny is not my cup of tea.
But at the moment a lot of people (not Sanghis… I mean people) would be looking at Kanhaiya with a lot of expectations.
And while I am not a Arvind Kejriwal fan, I cant help but remember the words from his speech recently.
“Modi ji ne students ke saath panga leke bahut badi musibat mol li hain”
(By instigating the students Mr. Modi has created a big problem for himself).
Disclaimer: Okay in this post I have spoken in the favor of Liberals, Rahul Gandhi and Kejriwal all in one post. What are you going to call me now?? Libtard? Aaptard? Khangressi??? Before you call me Anti-National …. Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Vande Mataram and Jai Hind 😀
