A Tryst With Demonetization

A Tryst With Demonetization —– on the eve of demonetization

Mitrooonnnnnn

One year ago we made a tryst with demonetization, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not at all in the full measure and not very substantially either.

At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world slept, India awoke to nightmares.

A moment came, which comes but rarely in history, when we stepped out from our houses to queue before the ATMs for long hours, when the aged ended their lives, and when the economy of our nation found itself utterly shattered.

It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity because Siachen mein humare jawaan ab bhi khade hi hain.

At the dawn of last 9th November, Indians started on their unending quest of pretending to fight Black Money and Corruption, and trackless days are filled with their striving and the grandeur of their failures and….errrr… their failures.

Through myopia and Modinomics alike, Indians have completely lost sight of that quest and forgotten the ideals like, Unity in Diversity, Secularism and Liberty, which gave India its strength.

We celebrate today a period of ill fortune and India perhaps will never discovers herself again.

The fictitious achievement we celebrate today is but a step to further doom, an opening of opportunity, to the greater scams and fake reports that await us.

Are we brave enough and wise enough to grasp this opportunity and accept the challenge of the future?

Freedom and power bring responsibility but not everyone is able to handle the Power or the Freedom.

The responsibility rests upon this population representing the sovereign people of India.

Before the birth of demonetization we have endured all the pains of standing in unending queues to withdraw our own money and our hearts are heavy with the memory of this sorrow.

Some of those pains continue even now. Nevertheless, the past is over and it is the future that beckons to us now.
